Jill the Jew
(March 30th Post)
So March 30 is the birthday of one of my closest friends, Jill Golod. In college, we ran in the same circles of friends but I did not become close friends with her until right out of college. We've known each other for 30+ years.
We used to call her "Jill the Jew". This was a college nickname. There was also a Sue the Jew. Yes, she is Jewish, and I credit her with teaching me the most about the jewish religion, holidays and culture. But that is not what makes Jill a great impact on my life. Jill taught me what a mensch is. That is because she is one. Jill is the type of friend that you can count on in your worst of times. She just seems to show up in support at the most opportune times. My best story about Jill is that when I was at Moxie the first time, I was working CRAZY hours to the point where it was causing me mental stress that was affecting my health. I needed to quit, but I had just bought my house/truck and was freaking out because I did not have time to look for another job. Jill offered me $ to fall back on if I needed to leave without a job. More than that, she was mentally supportive. I never used it, but to this day, I believe just knowing that she was there for me, was enough for me to find the strengthto pull myself out of the pit and get out of that toxic situation. Besides this, she is a whiz with money, advice - being in HR, she knows all the ins and outs of medical insurance and benefits. This is invaluable. We have been close friends for 30 years. So many stories and memories. Thank you for being an impact on my life Jill!
